Her name is listed in the encyclopedic reference book “Jazz in Russia”, released by the St. Petersburg publishing house “Scythia”, which made the best Russian jazz critics of the country, led by Vladimir Feiertag.
Veronika Makhotina has graduated from Krasnoyarsk Academy of Music and Theatre. She began her career in the Krasnoyarsk ensemble “Tebe Poiom” (We sing for you) and has been working in Krasnoyarsk Philharmonic as a jazz singer since 2001.
Makhotina performed with D.Kramer, the orchestra of Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre, with Krasnoyarsk Symphony Orchestra, mini-band of I.Dadayan and so on. Her voice is one of the quiet rare – contralto and her skills allow singing jazz as well as the romances, folk.
Makhotina is a gifted jazz singer and also an effective manager, organizing music life in Krasnoyarsk. She often invites young musicians to perform with her on stage, giving them the key to many doors in the world of music. She has a band of her own named Mainstream-band»: V.Vasiliev (bas-guitar), T.Romanovskaya (grand piano), S.Gassanov (drums), Yu.Zhemchugov (percussion), E.Manuilenko (sax, flute). This band under her lead is now a part of the Philharmonic.
Apart from the concerts Makhotina works as a professor – she gives the lectures in the scientific educational center of the culture stuff. Her name is in the handbook “Jazz in Russia” published by Skiffia, St.Petersburg, developed by the best jazz critics of the country, including V.Feyertag.
